OUR STORY
Hey there neighbor,
We are Julie Stonefelt and Kevin Mack. We co-founded Wild Homestead Living to help make sustainable living simple for people just like you, whether that's in the city, country, or somewhere in between.
While we come from regular American families, we've spent decades cultivating the life you see us leading today.
We are passionate about providing guidance and encouragement to others so you can lead the life you've been longing for.
We created a 6-part framework to help make learning simple:
- Planning & Mindset: Discover your “why” for homesteading and build a solid foundation for your journey.
- Home & Construction: Learn essential skills for creating a self-sufficient home, from basic repairs to DIY projects.
- Food & Drink: Transform your kitchen with homemade bread, preserved foods, and even your own brews.
- Grow & Tend: Start a garden, even with limited space, and connect with local farmers and seasonal produce.
- Outdoors & Wildlife: Enhance your outdoor living with wildlife-friendly practices and nature observations.
- .Sew & Craft: Embrace the joy of creating your own clothes, crafts, and household items.
OUR LIFE HASN'T ALWAYS LOOKED THIS WAY. NOT EVEN CLOSE.
We met and fell in love while working at a wildlife hospital in the 1990s. While we had devoted our careers to animals and nature, we were focused on living a life of convenience in the city. The homestead ideal always seemed out of reach.
It wasn't until we were both diagnosed with life-threatening health issues that we found the courage to stop speculating on our dream and start living it.
Eventually, we moved to our rural property in the Snoqualmie Valley of Washington State. That's when we realized we had been homesteading all along, even if we didn't fit the mold of homesteaders we were seeing on social media.
Since then, we have been sharing publicly about our journey and offering practical wisdom to others interested in charting a path of your own.
